Handan Metallurgical Engineering & Research Co. Ltd (hereinafter as "MER") is located in Handan City which is about 450km south of Beijing and 480Km to Tianjin Seaport, a city using the same name without changing in the past 3000 years and one of the earliest place on earth using iron-making technology. With the genes running in the borne blood for serving the heavy industries, MER has become a Council Member of Chinese Lime Association, Vice Chairman and the Chief of technical expert team of China Lime Association, Council Member of China Foundry Association, Council Member of China Iron and Steel Association. Until date, MER has been awarded with qualifications on Engineering, Design, Construction & Installation, and Engineering General Contracting, and ISO9001 Quality Management System Certification.

SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION

From the moment of being into form, MER has been actively promoting its science and technology research and development, taking technology innovation as one of most important ingredients for its corporate strategic transformation. In recent years, MER has been awarded with the titles like "Municipal and Provincial Innovative Enterprises", and many patents and technology have been applied into the domestic and oversea markets.

MER is devoted to the innovative research and industrial application on the energy-saving, high-efficiency and purification technology on the calcination and smelting of industrial furnaces, DIP casting process and the energy recycle. The R&D team has proper professional structure which covering process, thermal tech, casting, machinery, EIC, material, civil construction, steel structure… Through years’ efforts, our R&D team has been evolving into the leading position in China.

The R&D department is mainly consisting of lime/ Mg/pellet R & D Center, metallurgical R&D Center, DIP equipment R&D Center, Energy-saving R&D Center, and Automation Control Center. The R&D department is equipped with modern scientific research equipment from the electron microscope to the atomic absorption analyzer, from the particle size distribution to the measurement of specific surfaces of micron size particles, as accurate raw materials and fuels testing are a-must for an excellent plant design. Through cooperation with domestic famous universities, with the help of various modern software, such stress analysis, finite element analysis, etc., the R&D Department can develop the mathematical simulation models of key equipment to validate innovative solutions. Then, these solutions will be used in the engineering process during plant design, which not only meet the security requirements of different regional structure, but also bringing remarkable economic and environmental benefits for customers and society. Take vertical Magnesium reduction furnace for example, by this way, it has been successfully reducing 1/3 of energy consumption, 15~30% of comprehensive cost, and the market share has increased by 1/8, and it has achieved the target of well operation, satisfied production and higher productivity. With continuous efforts in R&D, MER wishes it would make more progress in technology and its products and services can be applied more widely in the world.

With the guideline of "Cleanness, High Efficiency, and Long-lasting Economy", MER has been striking to the technical innovation of calcination, heating treatment and energy recycle by focusing on "minimizing raw material input, recycling industrial exhaust gas and transforming production process with high-efficiency".
